Panasas and LANL to Examine Exascale I/O at Structure: Data Conference

This week Panasas announced that Dr. Garth Gibson, Panasas co-founder and CTO, and Gary Grider, HPC division deputy leader at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL), will take part in the “Faster Memory, Faster Compute” panel at the GigaOM Structure:Data conference to be held in New York, NY, March 21 and March 22, 2012.

The panel will be held Thursday, March 22, 2012 at 2:50 p.m., and will be moderated by Rich Brueckner, president of inside-BigData.com. These high-performance computing experts will discuss how Panasas and LANL optimize data processing performance in national lab environments for big data workloads and how I/O requirements will evolve in order to meet future exascale demands.

Big data has traditionally been the backbone of discovery in the national laboratories and is now spreading to commercial environments in the energy, science, finance, and manufacturing fields, to name a few. What is HPC today will be mainstream technology in short order,” said Dr. Garth Gibson, co-founder and CTO at Panasas. “Big data–the use of data to extract business value–is a phenomenon that is here to stay.”
